These terms are an agreement between you and Snitt (“we”, “us”) covering the Snitt app and the snitt.ai website (together, “the service”). By creating an account or using the service you accept them.
1. Acceptance
You accept these terms when you create an account or use the service. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You need an account to use Snitt. You must be at least 16 years old and provide accurate account information. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials to yourself. One person or organization per account.
3. Your content and ownership
Your content stays yours. Snitt claims no ownership over your footage, your published videos, or the cuts it produces from them — the rough cuts and exports belong to you.
By importing published videos into a profile, you affirm that they come from a channel you own or that you hold the rights to use them this way. By processing raw footage, you affirm the same about that footage. Do not import other people’s channels or material you have no rights to.
4. How we use your data
To do its work, Snitt uploads footage, audio and measurements from your machine to our servers, where they are transcribed and analyzed. During the beta, uploaded material may also be used internally to test and improve the editor against real projects. Creating an account is your consent to this.
The details — what is collected, where it goes, and for how long — are in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to process content you have no rights to, to violate any law, or to probe, overload, disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the service or other people’s accounts. Do not resell or provide the service to third parties as your own offering. We may rate-limit, suspend or refuse use that harms the service or other users.
6. Open-source components and reverse engineering
The app includes open-source components, listed on the open source page with their licenses and source code at download.snitt.ai/source.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile or modify the service, except that nothing in these terms restricts your rights under the open-source licenses of the bundled components — including your right to inspect, modify and rebuild those components as their licenses (such as the LGPL and GPL) allow.
7. Beta status and availability
Snitt is in beta. The service is provided as-is, may change, may be interrupted, and features may be added or removed without notice. Processing credit granted during the beta has no monetary value and can be adjusted or withdrawn.
8. Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, and we may also suspend or terminate any account or the service itself at our discretion — for example to end the beta — with reasonable notice where possible. Sections 3, 6, 9 and 10 survive termination.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits, or lost content, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which during the free beta is zero.
Keep your own copies of your footage. Snitt is not a backup service.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it. Disputes are resolved in the courts of British Columbia, sitting in Vancouver — except where the law of your home country gives you the right to bring or defend a claim there.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top is the version you are reading. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
